BOKS is coming to Lincoln!

December 3, 2013
We are thrilled to announce that BOKS is coming to Lincoln Elementary School!  BOKS is a program that provides kids 45 minutes of physical activity before school, 2 times per week.    The program not only provides an opportunity for children to get physically active, but studies also show that the program has a positive impact on academic performance.  Each of Winchester’s other four elementary schools currently run the BOKS program with great success.  Now Lincoln can get in on all the fun!

We are offering the BOKS program at no charge because parent volunteers will manage and staff the program.   The first pilot session will run for 12 weeks, before school, from February 3 – May 9, 2014 and will be limited to 40 students.

We are asking all parents to fill out the survey emailed to you to help us prepare for a successful launch.  Please fill out the survey by Friday, December 13, even if you don’t think your child will attend.

The official sign-up for the program will be via online registration in January.  The program will be first come, first served unless you agree to become a leader or dedicated volunteer, in which case your child is guaranteed a spot in the program.  If you’d like to volunteer, please indicate your interest in the survey.  Note:  please consider some level of volunteering! We need a lot of parents/caregivers to run this program as BOKS requires at least 5-6 parent volunteers per class (12 parents per week).
